Based on archival television footage and field research carried out for his new film, Luke Fowler examines the history and culture of Britain’s Isle of Barra. The images’ technical state, including over or under-exposure and physical damage testify to the passage of time and betray their age.
Born in Glasgow in 1978. Studied Graphic Art at the Dundee Art School. His films have been screened in London, Berlin, and New York, among other places. Won a Jarman Award in 2008. In 2012, was nominated for a Turner Award along with Toshiya Tsunoda and John Haynes.
