The squirrel tells children the story of a big bad mouse wandering through the woods in search of acorns. To protect himself against a hungry fox the mouse invents the Gruffalo – a creature with terrible teeth and terrible claws. That puts the fox on the run, so the mouse can keep walking. He employs the same subterfuge against and owl and the snake, further embellishing the imaginary Gruffalo. But is the creature really imaginary? The film is an adaptation of the best-selling children's book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
