Polish Days 2023 Awards SMART7 network of festivals launches workshops for festival organizers

The biggest industry event in Poland, Polish Days, took place from the 23rd to the 25th of July as part of the 23rd mBank New Horizons IFF. During Polish Days, 22 films at various stages of production were presented to international film industry representatives.

Each year, Polish Days is organized in collaboration with wonderful partners who provide numerous awards:

  • FIXAFILM Postproduction Award: 30.000 PLN for image post-production services - awarded to Under the Volcano by Damian Kocur;
  • ORKA Postproduction Award: 30.000 PLN for image post-production services, excluding VFX - received by Tadeusz Łysiak for his project Obsession;
  • NO PROBLEMO MUSIC Awards: an Audio Network music license for the film and its promotional materials without time, territory and field of use restrictions, was awarded to two projects: It’s Not My Film by Maria Zbąska and Next to Nothing by Grzegorz Dębowski; another award in the form of a co-production contribution to the sound post-production worth 75.000 PLN was given to the film Runa by Agnieszka Zwiefka.

New Horizons Association together with Netflix invited the guests and participants to the official opening of Polish Days, which took place on the roof of the Monopol Hotel. Regional Film Funds invited the guests and participants of Polish Days for the lunch celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Funds, and the new partner ORKA funded the lunch on the last day of the meetings. Thanks to the courtesy of the DI FACTORY post-production company, Polish Days participants were provided with refreshments during 1:1 meetings.

Polish Days also included accompanying events, organized by our partners, such as:

  • Polish-German co-production meeting (event co-organized by Connecting Cottbus, FilmFestival Cottbus and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg) and German Films Happy Hour;
  • Script Atelier: the final presentation of the projects which took part in the annual workshops on the development of feature film scripts;
  • Polish Film Institute 1:1 consultations;
  • presentation of Young Horizons Industry and an international co-production forum;
  • presentation of 5 Pop Up Film Residency Visegrad projects.

Polish Days are co-organized by the Polish Film Institute in partnership with FIXAFILM, ORKA, NO PROBLEMO MUSIC, Wrocław Film Commission, Łódź Film Commission, Mazovia Warsaw Film Commission, Podkarpackie Film Commission, Silesia Film Commission, Gdańsk Film Fund and DI FACTORY.

The media patrons of the event are Screen International, Cineuropa, Film New Europe and Film & TV Kamera.
