Thanks to the collaboration between the Polish Film Institute and the New Horizons Association, the New Horizons International Film Festival is one of the 5 international film festivals to present selected films in the prestigious The Goes to Cannes at the biggest film market, Marché du Film.
The Goes to Cannes is a program which invites the most important festivals to present selected films to the international film industry, films that do not yet have agents, distributors or set premiere dates.
We are proud and happy that the New Horizons IFF and the Polish Days will once again take part in The Goes to Cannes programme. The selection is really strong this year and we can't wait to show the projects to international industry representatives in Cannes, says Marcin Pieńkowski, artistic director of New Horizons IFF.
The New Horizons International Film Festival and the Polish Film Institute will present a selection of five Polish films in various stages of production (works-in-progress) in New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes programme:
Fucking Bornholm, directed by Anna Kazejak, produced by Friends With Benefits Studio
Imago, directed by Olga Chajdas, produced by Apple Film Production
Fears, directed by Łukasz Ronduda & Łukasz Gutt, produced by Serce
Inverted, directed by Jacek Lusiński, produced by Aurum Film
Lipstick on the Glass directed by Kuba Czekaj, produced by Centrala FILM
New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes screening is open for professionals registered at the Marché du Film Online. It will be held on the 9th of July from 12 noon until 2 p.m.
The excellent new Polish films are waiting to be discovered. After a turbulent time of the Covid-19 pandemic we are thrilled to invite the international film industry to meet in Cannes in July and then in Wrocław in August (with an option of digital participation if needed). We believe it is high time for a reunion to collaborate and network again, says Weronika Czołnowska, Head of Industry.
Polish Days 2021 will be held on August 15 – 17, 2021. It is the most important industry event at the New Horizons International Film Festival, organised jointly with the Polish Film Institute. During closed screenings, film industry representatives from around the world watch the latest Polish films at various stages of production, including completed works as well as fragments of films in post-production; they also participate in pitching sessions of projects in development. Polish Days is an excellent opportunity for Polish film producers and filmmakers to promote their projects, plan festival strategies and network with international partners.
