The 19th New Horizons International Film Festival is set to begin this Thursday. As it does every year, Wrocław will play host to numerous representatives of the world of cinema who will take part in meetings with audiences.

On the first day, our guests will include Céline Sciamma, director of the opening film of this year’s festival, Portrait of a Lady in Fire, as well as Adèle Haenel, who plays the lead role.

Festival guests will also include the subjects of retrospectives: Olivier Assayas (the program includes 16 of his films, including the cult Irma Vep), Albertina Carri (viewers will have an opportunity to see the superb Daughters of Fire), and Albert Serra (who will present his latest work, Freedom, an award winner at Cannes, and the multimedia installation Sun King at OP ENHEIM). Syllas Tzoumerkas (The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea), Kazuo Hara (Extreme Private Eros: Love Song), Oliver Laxe (Fire Will Come), Markus Schleinzer (Angelo), Sacha Polak (Dirty God), Hlynur Pálmason (A White, White Day), Gabriel Mascaro (Divine Love), Anna Odell (X&Y), and Zhang Lu (Fukuoka) will also visit Wrocław.

Poland will be represented by Agnieszka Holland, the director of Citizen Jones; Xawery Żuławski, who will be on hand for the world premiere of Bird Talk and to welcome viewers, together with Roma Gąsiorowska, prior to a screening of Snow White and Russian Red on Wrocław’s Market Square; as well as Rafał Zawierucha, the actor who plays Roman Polański in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood. During the festival, you will also have a chance to meet some of the actors from Bird Talk, including Sebastian Fabijański, Borys Szyc, Marta Żmuda-Trzebiatowska, and Andrzej Chyra.

Meetings with individual guests are indicated in the festival program on the website www.nowehoryzonty.pl (alongside the screening times).
