Performance artist Marina Abramović spent the spring of 2010 at the Museum of Modern Art. Her presence, as powerfully noted in the exhibition’s title, was literal. Each day, crowds packed MoMA for an opportunity to spend a few moments in a symbolic one-on-one with the artist. The camera follows Abramović through lengthy preparations and a three-month performance, exposing both of her faces, that of a professional and artist. While spending several hours sitting in one place, her face evidences wisdom and inexhaustible amounts of understanding that she uses each day to figuratively redraw her self-portrait. The artist present on the silver screen continues to win the hearts and prizes of audiences and countless festivals.
