Maja S. K. Ratkje

Nanook of the North Syny

Maja Ratkje composes orchestral works that have been performed by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, among others, and has also written electro-acoustic pieces. Her music encompasses opera, improvisation and experimentation, and she has been compared to Jaap Blonk and Phil Minton. And the Norwegian artist managed to accomplish all of this before turning 30. Ratkje's concerts are unsettling musical events: with their senses concentrated on the music, spectators have been known to start imagining bizarre stories.
