A feminist body horror about being outside the norm, hormonal disturbances, and the sexuality of young women growing up in a world where the measure of attractiveness is weight loss, and food has become a crime. Justine, a vegetarian, is beginning her veterinary studies, which is a family tradition. She arrives at the same university where her older and very popular sister is already studying. For reserved Justine, campus life is a nightmare. Especially the hazing, during which she is forced to eat raw rabbit liver. However, the traumatic experience awakens an appetite that she was previously unaware of. While cannibalism in cinema is nothing new, shocking bloodshed and violence are not at the heart of Raw. Julia Ducournau's debut is a poisonous study in female desire, the discovery of one's inner darkness and carnal pleasures that do not fit in with bourgeois norms.
