Katowice, Poland, 1982. The communist government has imposed Martial Law to crush the Solidarity movement. Food shortages and political arrests are everyday occurrences. Against this backdrop, a teenager falls in love for the first time. This black and white picture shows young people trying to live normal lives in traumatic times.

Rafał Kapelinski was born in Torun, Poland. He has a Master's in American Literature from the University of Nicholas Copernicus in Torun, Poland. He is also a graduate of the Master of Business Administration program at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. He has worked in the United States, Switzerland, and more recently, England.
