Peter Gabriel: Back to Front

Hamish Hamilton
Great Britain 2014 / 97’

When Peter Gabriel’s album So was release in 1986, it was considered one of the greatest musical achievements of the era. Hits like "Don’t Give Up,", "Sledgehammer," and "In Your Eyes" helped the album sell over a million copies and also made it a permanent fixture in the annals of pop culture. The film is a recording of a concert from October 2013 that was held in order to mark the 25th anniversary of this groundbreaking album. Peter Gabriel brought back the same artists he had worked with when making the original album: guitarist David Rhodes, bass player Tony Levine, and drummer Manu Katché, among many others. The director, BAFTA-winning Hamish Hamilton, shot the film in 4K ultra-high-definition, which gives the audience the impression that they are watching the concert live. As a result, Peter Gabriel: Back to Front is a visual feast, during which the viewer can personally experience the same emotions as those who witnessed this unique event.
