A Sketch of Manners (Alfred Roch’s Last Masquerade)

Jumana Manna
Norway, Palestine 2012 / 12’

Alfred Roch was a politician with an artistic disposition. In his home, before World War II, he would organise popular social gatherings. Director Jumana Manna returns to that era, not to realistically re-create their atmosphere, but to reflect on the emanating social tensions ultimately given vent in the first Arab-Israeli War.
