How can you make a Hollywood film interesting? It’s enough to just cut it up into little pieces, put it together again, switch on a light and play some tacky music. Volker Schreiner, as we can clearly see in Hollywood Movie, is very faithful to this simple method. This German short is based on a text film scenario by the American-Korean artist Nam June Paik, whose work is polar opposite to that of the Dream Factory.
Born in 1957, Volker Schreiner was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig from 1977–1983. Since 1988, he has been involved in sculpture and video installations. His projects have been shown all over the world, including Berlin, Tokyo, Sydney, New York and Madrid.
