Clayton Jacobson
Australia 2006 / 104’

Kenny Smyth is a professional. Kenny caters to his clients’ fundamental needs. Kenny is in the portable toilet business. Kenny, in the words of director Clayton Jacobson, is The Dalai-Lama of Waste Management. We follow the earnest, likeable Kenny through his daily routines while he talks about his professional and private life. Seeing a bright future and only opportunities ahead, Kenny sets out for Nashville, Tennessee to attend the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo. Jacobson’s film brims with ironic optimism in telling the story of a decent guy who takes life on the chin. Ignored by some and disdained by others, Kenny remains satisfied in the knowledge that the crowds just couldn’t keep going without him.
