What It Is Like to Be My Mother

Norah Mc Gettigan
Poland 2007 / 30’

The more we love, the harder it is to talk. Since her accident three years ago, Monika has been condemned to a wheelchair. She doesn't give up, and she fights for a life of equal rights. Her daughter records every moment they spend together with a camera. The result is a film which liberates their long-hidden emotions.

Norah McGettigan (born 1976 in Ireland) graduated from the University of Ulster and then during several years she travelled throughout Eastern Europe, where she taught drama and the English language. Then she started studying at the Film and TV Directing Department of the National Film, Television & Theatre School in Łódź.
