The Horses of a Cavalry Captain

Clemens von Wedemeyer
Die Pferde des Rittmeisters
Germany 2015 / 10’
documentary

The archival footage used in the film, shot with a 16 mm camera, is of priceless historical value for contemporary audiences. We have an amateur to thank for the footage, Harald von Vietinghoff-Riesch, a man who, during the first three years of World War II, recorded the daily life of soliders and civilians, as well as horses, which play a key role in Clemens von Wedemeyer’s documentary.
