Haredi Women Cinema: lecture by Marlyn Vinig'

Naomi is a brilliant young pianist, but she is under a lot of pressure. The demands facing her increase day by day. She can no longer take it in the end, and she runs away to Jerusalem. Cutting herself off involves changing her environment completely. And so this young Israeli nonbeliever decides to rent an apartment in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood in Jerusalem. She plans to live by herself and start over again-as if music did not exist in her life. Right from the beginning, Naomi's neighbors treat her as a stranger. She is only able to befriend a young boy from a religious family and an Italian monk. Day by day, the fanatical locals start interfering more and more in the life of this "newcomer." And their actions suddenly take a turn for the worse, becoming rather threatening. Eitan Anner's film is, on the one hand, a study of the loneliness of a woman, an artist who has had enough of the rat race. On the other hand, it is a story of religious fanaticism and ultra-Orthodox communities that are capable of destroying every potential "enemy." Naomi is played by Israeli actress Ania Bukstein, Kinvara from Season 6 of Game of Thrones.
