Ronnie is a cantankerous old man with lustful eyes and an undisguised love of fat. During the day, dressed in a tight, fuchsia-colored sweater, he and his phlegmatic son organize tourist trips to quiet neighborhoods during which they mostly deal with insults from disoriented participants. At night, however, he sheds his clothes, covers himself in lard, prowls the streets, giving vent to his perverse desires. Not much happens in his personal life until, one day, a woman named Janet appears on one of the tours. She is beautiful and happens to be a fan of balding men with a bit of a belly. This marks the start of a dark, calorie-free rivalry between father and son. Jim Hosking's perverse and uncouth debut restores faith in carefree, on-screen boorishness reminiscent of the best works of John Waters. An impressive display of bad taste and recalcitrant, grotesque imagination, a film that will delight any fan of late-night wackiness.
Jim Hosking began his career making promotional videos for MTV and commercials. He shot his first short film, Little Clumps of Hair, for the the BBC. In 2014, he directed one part of the horror anthology ABCs of Death 2. The Greasy Strangler is his feature debut.
