Alfred Roch was a politician with an artistic disposition. In his home, before World War II, he would organise popular social gatherings. Director Jumana Manna returns to that era, not to realistically re-create their atmosphere, but to reflect on the emanating social tensions ultimately given vent in the first Arab-Israeli War.

Jumana Manna was born in 1986 in New Jersey and currently lives and works in Berlin. She studied at the Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and at the National Academy of Art in Oslo, as well as at the Californian Institute of Art. Her artistic activities are mainly concerned with video projects and sculpture.
