Killing Auntie

Mateusz Głowacki
Zabicie ciotki
Poland 2013 / 30’

Jurek, an unexceptional and pale-faced history student lives with his doting aunt. He becomes convinced that she is to blame for the monotony of his life and his existential boredom. A hammer beckons close by. Based on an unfinished novel by Andrzej Bursa from 1957, this is an unusual crime story that deftly balances on the line of pure nonsense, the grotesque and dark humour.
