The excellent feature-length debut of a young Norwegian director, a cousin of the famous Lars von Trier, by the way, about two twenty-something-year-old friends from Oslo who have literary ambitions and dream of publishing their novels. (…)

I have to admit that I have seen few films that reflect the unbearable lightness of youth so excellently - with its expectations, anxiety, enthusiasm and melancholy, but also with its poses and snobbism - ironically and cleverly explored by the off-screen, omniscient narrator. Even the film's structure - whimsical, digressive, frequently using retrospectives - indicates freedom of an unfinished life, still being created.
