All These Sleepless Nights

People spend about seven months of their lives having sex, two weeks eating chips, and two years being bored, explains Krzysiek, the main character in All These Sleepless Nights, an award winner at Sundance. In his case, however, boredom is certainly not an issue. Having recently broken up with his girlfriend, he launches himself back into a busy social life. Along for the ride is his best friend, Michał. They hang out together in Warsaw's back-alleys, club hopping, hitting on girls, sharing secrets, and suffering from hangovers. The director of Fuck for Forest moves from the jungles of South America to the urban jungle. During this nocturnal odyssey through clubs and house parties, empty streets, and the crowded, raucous banks of the Vistula, the line between feature and documentary is blurred: the characters in the film are played by his friends, and many of the scenes are improvised. By using fluid camera movement and dynamic editing, he manages to reproduce the chaotic rhythm of the city, which is emphasized by the film's frenetic soundtrack. All These Sleepless Nights is an authentic portrait of two "innocent sorcerers" of the 21st century driven by stimulants and youthful hopes and illusions.
