One girl, one city, one night, one take is the tagline of Sebastian Schipper's film. While this is an incredible formal achievement, it would not be fair to judge it only in terms of the virtuosity of cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen, who kept his camera trained on improvising actors for more than two hours. This story of a Spanish girl who, shortly after moving to Berlin, meets some men who pay for a thrilling nighttime escapade, is a well-written story that borders on the sensational. Schipper has stressed that the cut version of the film did not satisfy his stringent artistic demands. Shooting the film in one take, which they managed to do only on the third try, lends the narrative a feverish sense of urgency. The camera quickly responds to emotional changes, multiplying the drama of the events described, but without subordinating the story to the form.
