The film shows a day in the life of an ascetic wandering leisurely through a valley in southern India. Along the way, the man meets numerous residents of the region and is curious about their lives. This popular philosopher enjoys considerable authority, is sometimes a teacher, and accepts events as the gifts of fate. At the end of the day, he returns to his shelter, where he peacefully contemplates life and talks about his vision of reality.
