Crippled Symmetries
Beatrice Gibson, whose previous experimental film, F for Fibonacci, was screened at the 15th edition of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival, reflects this time on the similarity between music and capitalist economies. As was the case with her earlier work, her latest film was inspired by William Gaddis’s satirical 1975 novel JR.
Beatrice Gibson
Born in 1978. Lives and works in London. Uses a variety of media in her artistic work. Her experimental films have been screened at numerous festivals, including the London Film Festival and the Rotterdam International Film Festival, where she has been a two-time winner. Was nominated for a Jarman Award in 2013. Her artworks have been shown in Stockholm and London, among other places. Won a Tiger Award for best short film at the IFFR in 2009 for A Necessary Music (2008), which she made together with composer Alex Waterman.
