After the success of the HBO miniseries Blinded by the Lights Krzysztof Skonieczny uses the cult classic Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson as a template for creating a dark, theatrical tale.
The protagonists are individuals in crisis, who can feel the reality intensely, but have troubles with emotions and struggle against echoes of their own past. The past mixes with the present, evoking the future. The cyclical nature of life becoming anew in different variations shows the importance of taking responsibility for your own actions, since their impact will sooner or later become apparent – in one way or another. Magnolia is a show about forgiveness, excess and lack of love, and about yearning for it. Additionally, both screenings of Anderson’s Magnolia during the New Horizons festival will be introduced by Krzysztof Skonieczny (DCF-W 28.07 12:30, DCF-W 30.07 18:30).
