The 13th T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival - Poland's largest film event - will be held in Wrocław on 18-28 July 2013. Festival passes go on sale beginning 22 March online.

New Horizons International Competition consists of bold and original polish premieres which always provoke extreme emotions, evoke delight or protests. This competition will include films such as Night by Argentina's Leonardo Brzezicki and awarded at Locarno and Turin visual poem Leviathan, a film by Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel. Once again, creative, feature length documentaries will compete for the International Competition for Films about Art prize. This competition will include for instance Hélio Oiticica by Cesar Oiticica Filho - visually striking found-footage documentary about the filmmaker's uncle, one of the most important Brazilian artists of the 20th Century.

A Panorama of Contemporary Cinema presents films, which have won awards at the most prestigious international film festivals. In this section there are both great masters and new talents. Among the films shown there will be: Vic+Flo Saw a Bear, directed by Denis Côté – winner of Alfred Bauer Silver Bear award at Berlinale and the latest work by Bruno Dumont, Camille Claudel 1915 – portrait of legendary French sculptor with Juliette Binoche in the titular role.

The programme Cinema Du Look – French Neobaroque will consist of films made by wonder boys, the three most important representatives of the genre, namely by Jean Jacques Beineix, Léos Carax and Luc Besson. The selection will focus on their films from the 80s and early 90s, when the development of Cinema du look in France was at its peak. French filmmakers proposed postmodern sensibility, inspired by television commercials, music videos, fashion photography and mixed film genres. This section will include films such as Betty, Subway, Bad Blood and The Big Blue.

The 2013 Festival will feature two directorial retrospectives: Walerian Borowczyk and Hans-Jürgen Syberberg. Retrospective of Walerian Borowczyk programme offers a rare chance to re-assess the work of a unique Polish filmmaker, scandalist, „polish Pasolini”, author of animated short films and surreal, bizarre features shot in Poland and France, which deliberately erased the line between art house and eros (Immoral Tales, The Beast). The second figure we will present is Hans-Jürgen Syberberg - the infamous, controversial, German director. Many commentators, including Syberberg himself, have characterized his work as a cinematic combination of Bertolt Brecht's doctrine of epic theatre and Richard Wagner's operatic aesthetics. This retrospective will include his most controversial Hitler: A Film from Germany, notable for its 442 minute running time. Criticized in his homeland, Syberberg is one of Susan Sontag’s and Francis Ford Coppola’s favorite authors.

This year’s Midnight Madness, one of the festival’s most popular sections, will present cyberpunk. A selection of postmodern science-fiction cinema, that will consist of cult cyber classics created in the 80s and 90s and new films that that take the genre as a playful departure point into more experimental areas. This section will include films such as World on a Wire – unknown 1973 science fiction film directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Austrian Flaming Ears - pop sci-fi fantasy feature set in the year 2700, directed by Angela Hans Scheirl, Ursula Pürrer, and Dietmar Schipek.

The festival's programme also includes New Russian Cinema - program with most innovative films from Russia. It will contains intriguing debuts, art scene experiments, and unconvenvential documentaries. This section will present a.o. Pasieka – a peculiar musical with elements of horror and Pyl with the legend of soviet underground music, musician and actor Piotr Mamonow.

It is character's construction and performance that will be in focus in the 5th edition of the educational cycle New Horizons of Film Language. New Horizons of the Cinema Language for already 5 years has been exploring behind the scenes of film form.
