mBank the title partner of New Horizons

Towards the black sun of melancholy – Portuguese cinema at the New Horizons Lost Lost Lost section's first titles announced

After nearly six years, the New Horizons International Film Festival has secured a new title partner. From this time forward, we are delighted to welcome you to Wrocław for the mBank New Horizons IFF.

Building on our collaboration established in 2019, we have at least three more years of joint activities during which mBank will support New Horizons on many levels. We are also pleased to unveil the visual identity of the 23rd edition of the festival (July 20-30 on-site, until August 6 online).

mBank and the New Horizons – more good cinema

The partnership is an extension of the collaboration started during the 19th New Horizons IFF. In the following years, the cooperation has grown, encompassing program activities (mBank was a partner of the prestigious Gala Screenings section), technological endeavors (presenting films in VR) and promotional and marketing initiatives (such as the “Więcej Nowych Horyzontów – More New Horizons” podcast on Filmweb and “Nowe Horyzonty: więcej dobrego kina – New Horizons: more good cinema” on RMF Classic radio).

- We are delighted that our brand will now appear in the name of this wonderful festival. It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the mBank New Horizons International Film Festival. The signing of this title partnership agreement marks the culmination of a fruitful 4-year collaboration – says Rafał Jakubowski, Marketing Director of Retail Banking at mBank. - Our customers embody curiosity, a thirst for personal growth, and a vibrant, entrepreneurial spirit. They actively engage in cinema and festivals, and we are proud to be there by their side – adds Rafał Jakubowski.

- I am thrilled that together with our partner, mBank, we are not only continuing but expanding upon the esteemed and rich tradition of the New Horizons. I am convinced that we will continue to build this project, which has been with us for nearly 20 years in Wrocław. The New Horizons Festival stands as an icon of brave visionaries and artists who offer us a fresh perspective, delving into important themes through their unique cinematic language. I believe that our partnership with mBank will ensure the preservation of this essence – emphasizes Jacek Sutryk, Mayor of Wrocław, the city that has proudly hosted the New Horizons IFF since 2006.

Partnering with the festival is just the beginning. mBank will also provide support for the nationwide cinema distribution of the New Horizons Association and the “united states of cinema”, which is none other than the American Film Festival, where mBank will serve as a partner of the Highlights section.

- The successful collaboration between New Horizons and mBank has been ongoing for several years. It is worth noting that the recently signed three-year contract will bring substantial stability to the festival in the long run, which is particularly valuable during these uncertain times. We are extremely happy to have secured such a trusted title partner, who will contribute to the development of not only our festivals, but also numerous distribution activities. Thanks to this, our cooperation will extend throughout the year – emphasizes Marcin Pieńkowski, director of the New Horizons Festival.

Cinemerging. This year's visual identity for the New Horizons IFF

Although there is only one New Horizons, there is not just one festival. During several festival days, in the vibrant heart of Wrocław, thousands of perspectives, interpretations and colorful characters intersect, forming the captivating mosaic of the New Horizons. The Wrocław festival is a celebration of diversity – on and off the screen – coherent in its (beautiful!) inconsistency. It is the multitude of diverse experiences and sensitivities that results in the New Horizons. These are reflected in this year’s slogan, “Cinemerging” (Polish “Kinoscalenie”) – brought to life through the visual identity created by Katarzyna Dudziec, Jerzy Skakun and Joanna Górska from Homework studio, in collaboration with Michał Weksler and Juliusz Pawłowski from the New Horizons Association.

- The New Horizons’ swallow has become an integral part of the festival’s visual identity, marking its fourth appearance. The swallow takes on new significance, while retaining its previous identity. This year’s graphic designs artfully combine elements of op art with representational realism (through the form of tiles). It serves as a tribute to the vibrant summer ambiance that accompanies the New Horizons Festival every year – highlights Michał Weksler, marketing manager of the New Horizons Association.

The mBank New Horizons IFF is one of the largest film events in Poland, where you can see hits straight from festivals in Cannes, Venice or Berlin, bold debuts, works by masters, and retrospectives of (wrongly) forgotten or little known classics. The on-site part of the 23rd New Horizons International Film Festival will take place between July 20th to 30th, the online part will last one week longer – until August 6th. For on-site screenings we invite you to the New Horizons Cinema and the Lower Silesian Film Centre. Festival passes are available for purchase. The sale of press and industry accreditations will start on May 9th.
