The electrifying debut of Leonard van Dijl, Julie Keeps Quiet, garnered distinction during Cannes Critics' Week. Julie is a promising young tennis player, noticeably taller than her peers at the tennis academy. When her coach is accused of inappropriate contact with the players, Julie's meticulously arranged world begins to unravel. She knows something but decides to remain silent. She wasn't the first; she won't be the last. Julie Keeps Quiet is sensitive, moving, and meticulously crafted cinema. It tackles crucial questions about the silence of women confronting a calculating abuser. Van Dijl presents Julie's world without emotional blackmail, with respect and patience, while simmering with wild emotions beneath the surface. There are no rackets smashed on the court—only a silent fight for survival.
