Psychotherapist Tomek is haunted by a recurring nightmare in which his mentee torments him following a successful suicide attempt. Unfortunately, his waking life isn't much better. He's decided to break up with his beloved girlfriend and has alienated all his clients by spouting textbook clichés. Just when it seems things can't get any worse, the director throws Tomek into another head-on collision with reality. Can such unconventional therapy offer a chance of success? It's hard to say, but one thing is certain – Belay is one of the most intriguing films in the "physician, heal thyself" genre since Solondz's unforgettable Happiness.
