Plenty of free time, a remote cottage, and two people bound by a strong, difficult-to-define connection. Sounds like a simple recipe for an apocalypse or a cathartic conversation that will elevate their relationship to a higher level of maturity. The protagonists of Dawn flirt with both possibilities, occasionally trivializing the seriousness of the situation and pretending it's all about trivial, friendly banter. In Anna Skoczeń's well-directed film, the casualness of the characters corresponds with the nonchalant form of the film, where documentary intertwines with animation.
Anna Skoczeń was raised in Krakow, where she graduated with honors from the Graphic Department of the Academy of Fine Arts. She is a multiple recipient of the Academy of Fine Arts Rector's scholarship and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship, and she has also been awarded the prestigious Type Directors Club scholarship in New York. Skoczeń works as an animator, educator, and graphic designer.
