In this documentary portrait of Tadeusz Konwicki, the writer and director – a serious man who does not take himself too seriously; calm, yet energetic and full of life – talks about his life and creative work: his experiences in the war, the start of his literary career, and his fascination with Marxism; about how he reached the conclusion that an artist should not serve any cause but should rather follow his or her own conscience.

Andrzej Titkow
Born in Warsaw in 1946, Andrzej Titkow studied Direction at the Film School in Łódź. He primarily makes documentaries: in addition to Passer-by, he also directed Pro Toto, Give Me That,Trwoga (Fear), and many others. He has been the deputy director of Documentary Films at TVP 1 and the artistic director of the Jewish Motifs International Film Festival in Warsaw. He is also involved in teaching and theater direction. In addition, he has authored several volumes of poetry.
