Cold Open is part of a series of films made in 2007 in Belfast, the director’s hometown, and has the hallmarks of an experiment. It is not merely a film recording of Irish youth, but also a reflection upon the nature of the medium. Its heterogeneous character has made it popular at film festivals, galleries and museums.
Seamus Harahan was born in 1968, and was brought up in London and Tyron. He mainly works with video, sound and film and shows his pieces throughout the world. He lives and works in Belfast.
