Fresh Cherries

Anna Baumgart
Świeże wiśnie
Poland 2010 / 18’

Unusual project about making taboo, stigmatization and hierarchization of victims of World War Two. Baumgart tries to work through the traumatic past of gays, lesbians and women forced into prostitution in concentration camps. By referring to modern methods of therapy (Hellinger’s settings) he creates a fascinating parable between history and the present. And there is also this question, hitting the nail on the head: why is a woman’s body a battlefield even in times of peace?
