In showing Brazilian landscapes recorded with a 16 mm camera, Ana Vaz takes on issues related to refuge and refugees. Her documentary was not made in the typical style of reportage, which could have placed There is Land! in the category of films with a thesis. In this case, there are no easy questions or answers because the filmmaker makes searching for, and meeting with, otherness the explicit aim of her film.
