Born in 1951 in Warsaw, Giżycki is an art and film historian, critic, and a documentary, animated and experimental filmmaker. He writes for ‘Projekt’, ‘Literatur’ and ‘Animafilm’ and works as art director of Poznań’s Animator International Festival. Since 1988, he has worked with the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, USA, where he lectures on the theory and history of film and contemporary art. He is the author of several books, including Nie tylko Disney. Rzecz o filmie animowanym (2000), and Wenders do domu (2006). Several of his films (including AE and Kinefaktura) have previously shown at the New Horizons festival.
