Batrachian’s Ballad

Leonor Teles
Balada de um Batráquio
Portugal 2016 / 11’
documentary

Awarded top honors at the most recent Berlin Film Festival, the documentary Batrachian's Ballad discusses the situation involving Roma in Portugal in a playful way. By humorously comparing people to porcelain frogs, the director talks about the fate of this ethnic group, which is certainly not so humorous. The Roma, much like frogs on city streets, are invisible to passersby.
