More than 80-year-old Tadeusz Rolke is an icon of Polish photography. 15-year-old Michał approaches the artist. Rolke helps the boy to buy a camera, and gives the boy his first photographic assignment. Eventually, the pair embarks on a trip through Poland’s small towns. Sharing the secrets of his craft with the young adept allows Rolke to see through the young generation’s lens, to determine if the 70 years dividing mentor student mean anything. Conceptual pictures make every shot reminiscent of a virtuosic framed photo and the entire film a tasteful collection of technically brilliant images that play with depth, colour, granularity and cadre. This documentary celebrates the thin line between the mythic past and the present. It is a story of meeting between two seemingly distant worlds connected by art.
