Picturing the World for 75 Years. The Polish National Film School in Lodz Anniversary
Lodz Film School graduates have created and are still creating Polish cinema. Their names fill the credits of Polish and foreign films, they receive laurels, awards and honours at festivals and competitions around the world. The Lodz Film School is not only an address at Targowa Street, but also a 'genius loci' - the sum of experiences, thoughts, emotions, ideas, dreams, creative struggles which were accompanied by fears and joys, ups and downs of people who have been and still are part of the School. We dream of evoking this spirit on the occasion of the 75th anniversary!
We celebrate, recall, watch, meet and still, constantly and addictively PICTURING THE WORLD. Look with us beyond the horizon!
On the occasion of the Lodz Film School 75th anniversary, we invite you to the New Horizons screening of student shorts by our graduates. We will present films by creative, original, brave and uncompromising artists who looked further and in a different way, saw more and felt stronger, and left a clear author's stamp on their films, not leaving the viewer indifferent.
After the screening, we invite you to a meeting with Kuba Mikurda and Dawid Bodzak.
Everyone Gets What They Don't Need
Fragmented and chaotic. Reality in Królikiewicz's works is usually incoherent, in a state of disintegration, permanently damaged, painfully marked by history. The moral and cultural crisis is clearly visible. You can even see it… by the swimming pool.
Take Five
An experimental student short film by the future Oscar winner, Zbigniew Rybczyński, that broke new ground in the use of pixelation, optical printing, animation and other compositional film devices to the rhythm of the classic piece of jazz music theme.

Look at your hand from really close, choose a spot and stare at it for a moment, until you see a landscape. When the veins become rivers and trees you can watch Carnalis and the film will stay in your mind for a long time.

Miracle, Remedy, Regret, Prayer and Forgiveness – not to be afraid of.
Marbles
Hypnotizing pendulum sets a particular mechanism in motion. A figure appearing fragmentarily, space and a variety of objects form a rhythmic system of mutual dependence. Sound interweaves with image, creating music of repetitive events. What is the cause and what is the effect? A stop motion animation made with threads on a vaseline coated glass plate.
Tremors
Imagine that you are in the forest. It is dark, quiet, empty. You do not know why you are there. You suddenly hear a howl. You feel you do not want to be there. You are afraid. You see a wolf and a second one and a third. They come closer and closer to you and surround you. What are you doing now?
Dawid Bodzak
Dawid Bodzak is a film director and screenwriter. He is a graduate of the Directing Department at the Łódź Film School. He directed several short, feature, and documentary films. Bodzak also received the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship in the Young Poland program in 2022.
