Comprising barely two takes, this is a documentary recording of a monologue by Faysal Abdullah talking about the regime of Saddam Hussein. The unmoving camera filming the man from a single point contrasts with the drama of this intriguing report, which is not without personal revelations. In the context of the system built by the Iraqi dictator, Abdullah tells the story of his brother, Kamel.

Laura Mulvey
Born in 1941 in Oxford. She is a member of the British Academy for the humanities and social sciences and a professor at the Department of Film, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of London’s Birkbeck College. Since the early 1970s, she has worked in the field of the feminist theory of film, which she also tries to apply in practice. She is a director and has authored analyses and articles for film magazines such as Film Studies and Framework. A retrospective of her work was shown at the 12th T-Mobile New Horizons Festival.

Mark Lewis
Born in Hamilton, Ontario. In 2009, he represented Canada at the 53rd Biennale in Venice with his exhibition Cold Morning. His latest work, Black Mirror at the National Gallery (2011), has been shown at numerous international festivals. His artistic achievements can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Mamco in Geneva, among others. He lives in London.
