Lost Highway connects two alternate realities. In the first lives Fred Madison, a middle-age jazz saxophonist, while the second is home to Pete Dayton, a young car mechanic. Fred spends day after empty day in the company of his frigid and possibly unfaithful wife, while Pete enters into a passionate affair with a woman associated with the criminal underworld. But why do both their partners look like twin sisters? And who is the demonic man in black tormenting them? These and other questions await audiences of one of David Lynch's most radical and enigmatic works. Lost Highway takes viewers on a wild ride: it is a surreal horror, a postmodern detective story, a narrative puzzle, and a display of stylistic exhibitionism. Told in an extraordinarily suggestive manner, it is a story about gradually slipping into madness. During this year's New Horizons, you will also have a chance to see the opera inspired by this cult film.
