Maciej Białoruski proves to be the king of cinematic sprint. Inspired by Piotr Grobliński's poem, he manages to convey in four minutes what others cannot express throughout their entire careers. In the story about how our life is calculated in four dogs, he packs a ton of emotions, a dose of philosophical reflections on transience, and a set of experiments with the texture of the image that perfectly correspond to the film's theme. And he leaves us with a sense of longing and a desire for the whole thing to last just a few seconds longer? I'm afraid that was precisely his intention.
Maciej Białoruski is a graduate of the University of Warsaw, Utrecht University, the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, and currently a fifth year directing student at the Łódź Film School. He is directed short fiction and documentary films shown in Poland and abroad. He describes himself as a Varsovian by birth and a Łódź resident by choice.
