Bartek Wasik plays Jóhann Jóhannsson (piano solo)

Jóhann Jóhannsson's music performed by Bartek Wąsik will accompany the Polish premiere of Jóhannsson's film Last and First Men (Oslo/Reykjavik section). Jóhannsson (1969-2018), an Icelandic composer, combines orchestral and electronic sounds and is best known for his soundtracks to films such as Sicario, The Theory of Everything and Arrival.

His feature-length directorial debut, Last and First Men, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival two years after his tragic death. The film opens with the voice of Tilda Swinton conjuring visions of an apocalyptic future and introducing us to a world of underground science fiction. Jóhannsson's film, both majestic and intimate at the same time - just like his music - collides fatalism with an ardent affirmation of fate.
