Extremely beautiful, important and poignant piece of cinema - Stan Brakhage said about this film. The shooting was an encounter of two directors-experimenters - Jennifer Reeves and M.M.Serra, who hides her names, Mary Magdalene, and who has been one of the most recognisable and eccentric figures of the East Village avant-garde milieu for over a decade.

The materiality of the world, revealed in the process of filming, of combining found images with the filmmaker's own ones, of decorating and destroying frames, is especially intensive in He Walked Away. This piece of art is the essence of movement - slow and imminent, a metaphor of passing and longing, of memory and glow.

A spectacular interpretation of German classical expressionism.In Shadows Choose Their Horrors Jennifer Reeves wonders what the story of the vampire Nosferatu would be like, had Nosferatu been a woman. Roaming a town at night, torn between desire and a longing for love, Madame G uses magical rites to kill people and to revive the dead. The film was inspired by Murnau's Nosferatu, a Symphony of Terror (Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens), but also by Aaron Copland's ballet Grohg.

Nervy life of a feminine space. Images cut, pasted and painted in the rhythm of music of an old creaking record. A nostalgic visual trance, created with fragments of external and internal landscapes, with rich shapes of nature. The essence of glimmering sensuality, typical of Jennifer Reeves's work.

Filmed on a super8 and 16 mm plate, a recording of many years of filming and life, compressed into 8 minutes of glimmering images. A dreamer girl moves about in space and her own fantasies, wanders on meandering roads, beneath the sky and on water, high and below. Gallery of images is completed with portraits of animals, hunting for sundown, and dance with sharks. Life flows in it's own rhythm.
