Girlfriends and Girlfriends Inshallah a Boy

Luis, like many young Mexicans, especially those of indigenous descent, joins Heroic Military College to escape the specter of poverty and provide for his family. The military offers financial security, health insurance, and a perspective for the future. As part of the package cadets get a solid dose of violence and humiliation, which they must learn to endure and pass on to others. Luis loses his natural gentleness and, when trying to resist evil, becomes ever more enmeshed in its tentacles. The lines between reality and nightmare blur, which is perfectly amplified by the hypnotic narrative, raw, glassy or opaque shots and Murcof's score drilling into your ears. Heroic is a story of violence that is as political, social and pervasive as it is purveyed under the guise of law and national values. I wanted to understand, investigate and present the complex causes of violence in my country, which are rooted in state institutions, social structures, poverty, colonialism, indigenous identity, lack of prospects, marginalization, said the director.
