Cherry Pie

A variation on the subject of loneliness in the modern world. Who is she? Where is she headed? What is she escaping from? A blue bird with a traumatic past, a penniless young hitchhiker, lost, and wandering along the highway. Invisible to satisfied conformists, lacking support in time and space, this angry girl visits gas stations bathed in the glow of cool light and anonymous suburbs in northern France. During her chaotic journey, she moves on to another country and takes over the identity of a suicide victim. Living someone else’s life in the seaside town of Brighton, she changes from a teenager to a woman. Reminiscent of Greta Gerwig, Lolita Chammah, in the lead and only role, releases the reins of her expressive acting, and the camera never leaves her alone. With the heroine standing on the edge, her emotional drama is played out, although we never learn the reason for it. The narrative is carried along by her compulsive reactions. Is there anyone in this atmospheric emptiness who could lend this girl a helping hand?
