Hayoun Kwon deals with issues related to her country’s history. In her latest film, she makes an interesting distinction by using the audio to present its authentic history, which combines with computer-generated images. This choice does not undermine so much as support her story about a North Korean village permeated by propaganda.

Hayoun Kwon

Born in Seoul in 1988. After completing her studies at the School of Fine Arts in Nantes, she was accepted at the Le Fresnoy National Studio of Contemporary Arts. She creates performance art, video installations, and documentary and animated videos. Hayoun explores her country’s history and its difficult and complicated relations with Japan.
