A collaboration of the New Horizons IFF and the European Film Academy, A Sunday in the Country gathers a dozen of young film critics and journalists for a workshop/retreat in Fregata hotel near Wroclaw.
The participants from 10 different European countries, selected with recommendations from local cultural institutes, stay together for three days in a remote country house on a lake in Zagórze Śląskie, where they get to know each other, cook and eat together, watch movies, meet special guests (filmmakers from the New Horizons festival) and exchange their professional experiences and build international relations. Under the guidance of an expert they discuss the following professional issues: What's the responsibility, if there is one, of a critic towards (national) film productions? And towards the reader? What is the reality for film critics in different countries?
"It is not only a weekend of thought provoking discussion of the past, present, and future of film criticism. First and foremost, it provides a unique encounter of like-minded and future friends from all over Europe."- commented one of the past participants.
7th A Sunday in the Country in Wrocław will take place during the 18th New Horizons International Film Festival from July 29th till August 1st 2018.
