It's Argentina's time to shine! Epic 14-hour long "La flor" & "La Quietud" Retrospective: Terayama Shūji

Creative Europe funded training for film festival professionals from around the world will take place for the first time at New Horizons International Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland.

Run by the UK based Independent Cinema Office, (ICO) Developing Your Film Festival (DYFF) is the world's only development programme for film festival professionals and will take place at New Horizons International Film Festival from 22 - 28 July 2019. Now in its 9th year, DYFF is 100% recommended by all participants from over 40 countries.

The course welcomes world renowned speakers each year, with previous experts from Berlin, Edinburgh and Rotterdam International Film Festivals. Confirmed for 2019 is Jennifer Frees, Senior Director of Partnerships at Toronto International Film Festival and Wendy Mitchell, Journalist and film festival consultant, with more speakers to be announced shortly.

Aimed at professionals running established festivals, the course content is carefully curated to cover latest market trends and issues facing film festivals today. With guidance on writing a three-year business plan, marketing and sponsorship strategies, audience development and sustainability, the training programme provides international delegates with countless new ideas and the means to implement them.

This is the first time the course will take place in Poland, with previous editions at Vilnius International Film Festival in Lithuania, Motovun Film Festival in Croatia and Edinburgh International Film Festival in the UK. The training programme is funded by Creative Europe and supported by the British Council.

ICO Director, Catharine Des Forges said, "There really is no other course like it - no course designed specifically for film festival professionals. It's incredible to see how much the delegates can learn from one another and the expert speakers we put in front of them. In the past we have attracted participants from all over the world, including Georgia, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Peru and Slovakia. Making connections worldwide and building a support network for film festivals is imperative to ensure festivals continue to push boundaries, be forward thinking in their practise and be leaders in discovering new and innovative filmmaking voices."

Marcin Pieńkowski, Artistic Director of New Horizons International Film Festival said, "I am really proud that Developing Your Film Festival will take place at New Horizons International Film Festival this year. This is the only workshop in the world fully devoted to festival issues and it is extremely important for festival people to learn, network and share their various experience in this dynamic and difficult film world. This is the perfect place to do it."

Applicants can apply via the website (bit.ly/dyff2019) until 16 May.
