Midnight Show II is the second edition of a spectral exhibition that is open for only one hour at night. During the course of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival, the doors of the Dizajn Gallery will open for visitors exactly at midnight and will close at 1 a.m., and will continue to do so every night at midnight throughout the Festival.
Midnight Show II is an additional screening as part of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival, a screening in the form of an exhibition at which no films will be shown, a screening that begins when the last film at the cinema ends, a screening that takes place on the boundary of two days in the middle of the night.
Midnight Show II is an exhibition that, like a film, has its own soundtrack, protagonists, special guest stars, and so it is an additional Festival screening during which viewers use their own vision to animate unmoving objects and arrange sequences that they see with their imagination. It is a suggestion to look at a work of art – paintings, photographs, sculptures, and buildings – in the same way in which we usually watch a film: during a strictly limited period of time and with an awareness of a beginning and an end.
The main subjects of Midnight Show II will be time, the midnight hour, the screening experience, images that appear in the dark, light that is best seen in the dark, and the experience of reality as a sequence of events arranged by the viewers themselves. Midnight Show II is an exhibition of works that it is best to get to know at night, as well as of those that should never see the daylight.
The exhibition screening always takes place at the same time, but it is different every time. A visitor who has already seen Midnight Show II and comes back again the next night will find a different exhibition. On the last day of the Festival, Midnight Show II will open at noon. From the moment when the rhythm of the Festival, marked by the screening of films, comes to an end, the nighttime exhibition will turn into a daytime exhibition.
